Day 27: Framing continues... Inspection scheduled..

I got a call from I.M. and he gave me an update on what was happening with the build. He also answered my "no frame in the garage" question, we apparently have a brick garage. Now that is a surprise, and told him I am pretty sure we have a brick-veneer. Well, he said he was looking at the drawings and it says brick garage, that is why no frames in the the garage. But this leads to a problem, the trusses can't be put up until the garage is built. Now how am I suppose to go ahead with the scheduled frame inspection on Tuesday? Told I.M. to meet on site in the afternoon and he willingly agreed.

I also got a call from R.K. of NHI regarding the Tuesday appointment for the frame inspection. Had to tell them to hold it 'till I talk to I.M.

I go to the site and me (I.M.). He is really professional and easy to talk to. Explained a few things to me and found out a few things. One, C.P. is no longer our site supervisor since he was let go for so many reasons (well he didn't even called me and gave me any update which was one of his main job).

Also, the garage frame is already done when I got to the site, I.M. was looking at another drawing when he said we had a brick-garage. But !@#$%^$, that was quick, they put the whole thing in about 2 hours.

I reiterated that the frame inspection was on Tuesday and he assured me that it will be ready by then. He seems to know NHI and told me that they are one of the good inspectors, thorough and knows what they are doing. That's good to know since I know I.M. will be on his toes and will try to do everything right.

Well, I finalised the inspection time with NHI and that is all good to go.

Also sorted out the finance side. Someone from Carlisle called me following up the payment for the base stage and told them it's all done.

No photos today though, I was not able to go inside the site since they were still busy putting up the trusses. Don't want to get hit in the head.

Day 26: Frames are UP!!!

I was really excited to see that they have already started putting the frames up, and by the looks of things, they are almost done.

The whole house

View from the master bedroom

The lounge

Laundry

Kitchen/Family Area

And a hole on one of the beams. Need to remember to ask this during inspection.

And view from our street.

The thing that bothers me is why they have not yet started the garage frame? It is a bit odd to put up the rest of the house but not the garage.

Day 24: Frames delivered

I don't know when they did it, probably last Thursday but the materials for the frames and trusses are already on site.

And it is good to see the layout of the rooms.

Hopefully they really finish all the frame before the Easter holiday just like what our SS said.

Day 21: No Update

Well, I wasn't able to go to the site today. But I am guessing that the frames are already delivered. Let's hope so..

Day 20: We Got Slab!!!

Yehey!! We got slab!!! It was really exciting to see the foundation of the house finally laid. Now it feels real and it is really good to see real, solid part of the house, not just fences and pipes sticking out of the ground. But what's funny is that I also got Carlisle's invoice today for the slab stage. Geez, they are really fast when it comes to giving out invoices.

This is the view from the front.

From the alfresco area

Need to talk to the SS about the photo below. The white thing sticking out is a stryo. Does this mean that they did not get the slab  thickness right?

Another one on top of the slab. But this one I am not sure if it is a styro.

And a chip at the alfresco area

Day 19: Wow!! Pre-Slab

As soon as I saw this

I got pretty excited and went @#$^%^#@$%@#$.. did they already poured the slab??!! But NO!, they just did the waffle rafts.

This is the view from the front of the house.

From the back.

And steel reinforcements for one of the brick pillars..

After seeing those waffle raft (which are like styrofoams) I am not sure if the foundation will hold. Got really worried. I sure hope the engineer knows what he's doing.

Day 18: Me absent.

Well, the title says it all.

Day 16,17: No Update???

Since I was not able to go last Friday, I decided to go during the weekend just to see the progress. I am not really sure if there are any but below are the photos.

I am quite disappointed as there are still no digging or preparation for the slab.

Day 15: Me absent...

Unfortunately, I was not able to go to the site as I had to do some more important things.  It doesn't matter, we will just go there during the weekend.

Day 14: Yey!!! Digging!! Finally

I was on my way to the site when our CLE (E.R.) returned my call and was asking how was the build going. I was confused as I should be the one asking that question to her. Anyway, I said that it seems that there was nothing going on for the past 3 days and she just replied that she will call the site supervisor to check what's going on.

When I arrived at the site... Yehey!! They finally dug the site and can see them preparing for the slab.  The white outline in the photo below will be where the garage and the porch.

And the trenches below are for the 4 expensive pillars that we need to add for the corner treatment.

And look, no more pool..

And finally, X marks the spot.. of what? I don't know!!!

Day 13: No Work Again ???

This is really annoying. The slab is supposed to be poured in tomorrow and I was hoping that there will be a miracle that they will be able to dig and prep the site for the slab pour in one day but it seems that there was no work done again today. See the photo below and compare it to the other two previous days.

But it seems that there is a lot of work being done to our neighbours house. And I think that they are using our block as a dump for their materials not unless that the photo below will actually be used in our house.

Ah well. Better call my CLE (E.R.) tomorrow and check what is happening.

Day 12: No Work Done Again ???

hmmmm... my slab pour will be in two days and it seems that there is no work done again.

Notice the small pipe lying in the ground beneath the meterbox? It is in the same position as in Day 11....

And still no word from my site supervisor..

Also, my CLE (E.R.) called me this morning asking what is happening at the site which is strange since she should be the one telling me what is happening. But she did say that my site supervisor is sick so that may be the reason why he has not called me yet..

Day 11: No Work Done ???

Strange that it seems that there was no work done today.

And my site supervisor haven't contacted me yet...

Sunday, March 14, 2010

Day 9, 10: Weekend

Nahh.. No updates since I didn't go to the site. Didn't think that they work on weekends since it's still at the early stage of construction.

Friday, March 12, 2010

Day 8: We Got Pipes

Went to the site today to find that we got pipes sticking out of the ground.

Thursday, March 11, 2010

Day 7: Me Absent!!

sorry, no updates since I was not able to go to the property as I had to go to a BBQ @ WHS..

Wednesday, March 10, 2010

Day 6: Just Sticks.. and a Pool!!!

Can't see any noticeable change that they did today other than just a few sticks/pegs.

and we got a Pool

Tuesday, March 9, 2010

Day 5: Temp Fences Are UP!!

Yipee!! The temporary fences are up. But I was surprised that they even put a fence between our lot and our neighbours' since we got the same builder anyway.

Monday, March 8, 2010

Day 2,3,4: Long Weekend

Day 2: Saturday
Day 3: Sunday
Day 4: Monday (Holiday - Labor Day)

Friday, March 5, 2010

Day 1: We Got a Portalet!!!

Ahhh.. this is it, Day 1. I was wondering whether they would actually start anything today. Went straight there after work and guess what.. WE GOT A PORTALET!!!!

Also noticed that there were a few scrapings on the block.

And there was a shallow rectangular hole at the far end. Don't what's it for though.

Well, they did some work. I wonder if they work on weekends. :D

Day 0: March 4, 2010

Tomorrow, March 5, 2010, is the scheduled site cut. I guess that will be the official start of construction so I am calling today Day 0. Went to the block just to see what it looks like before they start some work.

Well, I guess I'll see if they actually do start tomorrow.
